Gabe & Izzy,

You have reinforced my belief in the "power of one" through your courage to spread an epedemic message. It is my hope, your honesty will spread and a zero tolerance will trump "fears" that prevent able decision makers to step up to the plate. You certainly did.

My sister read an article about you in Cosmo, she told me about it. I also have Friedreich's ataxia and it is inspiring to read about other people like me. While I didn't get bullied as much physically in high school, probably because I am over six feet and while I would be less then useless in a fight I am a big guy. I did get picked on a lot. It is just nice to here about other people out there like me.

Dear Gabe,
Thank you so much for comming to my school (maine-endwell middle)
and telling everyone how harsh it is to be bullied. what I think is important is that everyone was paying attention and you were not the kind of person who has a pitty-me i have a disease and have been bullied attitude. You are so inspiring! I know how it feels to be bullied and it isnt fun. thank you again!

Hi Gabe and Izzy I saw you guys at my school(Maine Endwell Midde School), you changed me entirely I use to lie, and sometimes act like a bully when I didn't know I was hurting other People around me. but people bully on me to so I might of been standing up for myself but I understand what you said today that 2 wrongs don't make a right. I was going to ask you today, When you were getting bullied did you ever tell anyone that bullied you to stop, or tell them about your disorder?
Also I really hope you live your life you want to and hope that nothing will get in your way. Also I would like to tell you and Izzy that I appreciated you coming to my school , and good luck in all your dreams.

P.S. I always wanted to be a doctor, today you brought me to a new step of my life and I wish I could bring you the next new step to yours.

I was very touched by your story and was extremely happy that you could come to share it with our children here in Maine, NY. Every child is affected by bullying in one way or another... observes it, participates in it or is the unfortunate recipient of it. I will always remember the words you shared. Dear Gabe,
Thank you so much for coming to Maine Memorial yesterday to speak.
When you were talking I watched our students listening to you and I know that you connected with them. Because I was bullied myself when I was young I know just how destructive it can be. It has taken me years to gain back some of the confidence in myself that bullying took away. The mission you are on is an important one and I have tremendous respect for you. You are a very courageous young lady.
My best wishes to you and Izzy,

Gabe and Izzy, Thank you so much for coming to our school and sharing your story with us all. I am an aide in a kindergarten classroom and I appreciate so much what you and your family are doing to go around and encourage others and teach everyone the harm bullying can do. I know so many people who have such deep scars from what they went through as chidren and what your doing to help others is so unselfish and such an inspiration. You are truly a beautiful young woman inside and out, and the support your family gives you is wonderful. I will think of you often as I remember the time you spent at our school, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks again, You are truly an inspiration, sometimes we don't know why the Lord allows certain things in our lives, but know you are touching many lives in such a positive way. I cried when you were speaking, I felt so bad that someone was treated in such a horrible way. You are both so inspirational to me & you've affected my life in such a huge way. I'll always remember you both as incredible. I'm such an animal lover myself & I was so amazed by how strong you both were. You're both struggling with illnesses & you still wanted to get your word out & that's truly commendable. You hugged everyone, you're such a sweetheart! :) Well, I guess that's all. Tonight when I say my prayer I am going to include you and Izzy and ask God to help everyone out in the world find a way to live and love life just like you. Thank you for everything.

Your story was touching to all of us, and I even cried the day they showed us the Animal Planet video. I know your speech was effective because all day long, all I heard was a bunch of "I'm sorry for hurting you that day" and "Its alright, thanks for apoligizing." Dear gabe,
It was nice for you to come to our school to teach us and explain your story to us about bulling. I know how you fell about how someone talks about you or hurt your feelings. I, myself have a disability. I have a physical disability, I only have one ear. when people see me with only one ear and talk about me behind my back, i feel sad and mad that they are talking behind my back about me. i wish you the best of luck throughout the rest of your life.

Hey Gabe and Izzy, I think you are both amazing, I was bullied in High School, I finally left school in 11th grade, after I was jumped by 10 girls and boys, all because I was different, I got my GED but I never forgot that these people took away a part of my life, I am now working with animals and have some good friends, there was a time where I felt my life was over, but there are some wonderful people out there and you cannot let bullies ruin your life. I am so happy you and Izzy are doing so well, you are a true role model, both you and Izzy.

Hi Gabe and Izzy! On Friday May 30th, you visited my school. I would like to say I loved the assembly. My older brother has autism (Have you heard of it?) and he is in high school. He gets bullied all the time. Sometimes when me and my brother are in public, people look at him and laugh. I yell at them and tell other adults, including teachers. Am I doing this action correctly?

I wont mention names but ive been called names all though people said it straight to my face and was meaning it as a funny way.But like you said when people call you names and mean it as a joke it is still kindof hurtfull, even if they dont realize it could be hurtful, and sometimes people call you names and hit you and they do it on purpose.Anyways thankyou for coming to are school and teaching us about bullying. You have tought me how that such little things can be so hurtful and sometimes its ok but sometimes it just goes to far.Well thankyou. And a couple more things I saw a picture of you and your dogs. Are thoes your dogs? But I might be getting a toy poddle this summer.Any advice?Your dogs are really cute by the way.

Dear Gabe and Izzy, Your story is truely inspring. When you came to Richmond Middle School on 5-1-08 you had everyone that day saying that they were sorry for whatever that they had done. I feel your pain, i'm in 8th grade and when the teacher walk out of the room somone started to stab me with a pen, around 7-8 times. That day i took pictures on my phone of the stabs. then my brother was snooping through my phone and found them, he told my mom and dad, i lied to my parents and told them i took care of my problem. so they wouldn't go and embarses me in front of my friends. All that i did was avoid the kid but he still makes fun of me. I thought after the assembly he might say he was sorry but he didn't. He is one of those people who only care about themselves. Thank you for giving me the courage to forgive others for what they did and inspire me by you story.

Alot of kids make fun of other people and it's not right. I am starting to relize that it does hurt other peoples feelings and i stopped after your speach. So thank you so much for taking your time and doing to right things for others. Gabe,
I really enjoyed your speech you presented here at Richmond Middle School today. I thought it was very inspiring. My little sister is 11 years old and was diagnosed at birth with a disease called Wolfehirshorn. She still wheres dipers and can't talk at all. She will mummble and try to talk but all that comes out sounds like baby talk. Your speech you gave today inspired me so much to help my sister, Brianna, more and accomplish more in school and in everyday activities. So I just wanted to tell you that you and Izzy did wonderful and I am excited to hopefully hear for you again!

Thanx again! ♥Alyssa Keller♥ 12 yrs. old

I truly respect you taking care of Izzy through her illness and her of you. Most people do not value life especially, animals, they see them as disposable entities. But to care for those who can't care for themselves is to be truly rewarded. May God shine constant light upon you and Izzy.
Again I say thank you for those who you have touched and those whom you will in the future, because of work like yours and others maybe true peace in this world of ours may be acheived.
Thanks for the motivation and inspiration.

I do agree that name calling is the worst and I hope taht you will kinda put those in your past but I know that it is not that easy. Izzy is so cute and I have a cat whose name si Nemo and he is my best friend. When I am upset he is always with me rubbing up on me. The weird thing is that he likes to lick my neck at night like I am his mom or something. If anything was ever to happen to him I would be lost without him because he is one of the sweetest cats I have ever met. I really enjoyed looking at your pictures and watching the animal planet video and the today show. The song that was on your own video about bullying kinda made me get teary eye cause it was a very sad song. Thank for the lesson

After your presentation I was talking to some of my peers, and it had made them realize that some of the smallest things you say someone could really hurt their feelings. Hi Gabe and Izzy! I am from Scarlett Middle School, so you probably remember that you spoke to us today. I just want to say thank you so much! Because, I was bullied in 5th grade and it is still going on because I don't usually talk to everyone, because of reasons of that person. So, people are always saying that when like someone says hi to me of course I don't respond, and people keep saying behind my back, that why doesn't she talk?, so I am really hurt by what people say about me. So Gabe what should I do? Thank you so much for coming to our school today as well, I was the girl who gave you that last hug. Thank you so much! Scarlett Middle School loves Gabe and Izzy!

Hey Gabe,
Hi I kind of now who how you feel with Izzy when she was diagnosed with the liver dessise. I had a dog and she was a golden and she had lock jaw and she got a muscle disses in her neck. And we took to the vet all the time. She was a very good dog. I loved her to death. But unfortrently when I came home one day I had gound out that she had died that day. And with the bullying I am bullyed all the time and no one want's to stand up for me because I act different then the other kids and it bugs me. I have a few friends, but they don't like hanging out with me a lot. They are good friends, but the are trying to fit in with the cool kids and I am never welcomed into that group so They pick on me when the cool kids are around. And I lock my self in my house and the day goes by fast and another day goes by before my eyes. You really have inspired me and I want to say thank you so much Gabe and Izzy

I also thank you for talking about the non-bullying stuff. I get bullyed alot as well just for my weight and what you said today helped me alot. I was the kid who was with a couple of other guys and i had the dark brown hair with the silver dress shirt on. I saw your video on Animal Planet and i thought that it must be "hard" not being able to walk and i understand that it is. When that girl in the 6th grade on the stage asked you if you could "would you take away your disease"? I agreed when you said you would keep the disease and i thought that was pretty hard to say. - Alex

She couldn't even walk for a long time when she want to turn she always turned to the left even to go right she would just randomly turn in circle's. Then my mom decided to put her down. Hi Gabe, I read an article on MSN about your interview for the Today show. I wish there were more people like you who have the talent to put into words how it feels to be bullied in school just because you look different. In my case it was because I was always on the chubby side. The sad thing is bullying isn't exclusive to kids because even adults can be mean, too.

Anyway, I wish you all the best.

Gabe, I can reeally relate to your story. I had a brain tumor on my brain stem removed in 2002 at the age of 37. Unfortunately, the tumor came back and I had it removed again in september of last year. This time it left me with cerebellar ataxia on my left side.I take primidone to control the shakes, but somedays are better than others. My motto is :play with the cards that are dealt to you: I'm glad to see there are people like you, out there , Keep up the good work. I hope you get this message and reply back. Thanks!

Gabe, I believe I taught your mother in my 7th or 8th grade English class at Fenton Middle School. I recall her as being a most mannerly and classy young lady. You must be just like her.

Hey Gabe,
I am a member of a networking site called ataxia South Africa. Someone put up a link about you and had some videos and stuff. How insane but also incredibly cool and and and you and your dog can get the FA word out there. I have believed for a long time now i have been put here to teach people about diversity, you certainly are doing so. Oh i to have freds, i am 27 (omg i cant handle that. I still see myself asd a teenager) i live in Johannesburg South Africa, (i am with friends of mine in Australia at the moment for a few months) anyway i just wanted to say hey and keep up your fantastic work. Its so positive, uplifting and is truly wow.

Dear Gabe,
I want to thank you for sharing your story. My youngest daughter is still in the process of being diagnosed, but is believed to have some form of a spinocerebellar ataxia. I haven't found anyone who has ever heard of this, it just doesn't get talked about. My daughter is 4 and we've been testing her since she was 17 months old. Thank you for brining this into the public! I was so excited to hear about your story and also that you are doing something so wonderful for so many kids! We wish you the best of health and look forward to reading your books!

I love your website. I would love to get you to come and talk at my son's school. We live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I am so happy Gabe, that you found Izzy. Dogs really can help us through anything. I really want to meet you and have my son meet you. You are truly inspirational!

Hey Gabe! you were just at our church (Heritage Hills). I really enjoyed hearing you speak about bullying. I've had some people pick on me in my day. And i know it hurts, even though i pretend like it didn't. Luckily, i've come to realize that if Jesus loves me so much, that's all the acceptance i need. Sometimes i just have to remind myself of that.
God Bless!

Your story on MSNBC really touched me. I haven't cried for years because of depression. Thank you for the inspiration. You're a beautiful person and I admire who you are and what you do. I'll never forget you, as you are one of my heroes.

Gabe, I have FA too. It was really surpising when they told me that I had it. And that there wasn't a cure for it. When I was young I always thought I could be or do anything. Then I found out that all those things became limited. I am 17. I was in a wheelchair a little early because I had a heart-transplant and many medical things I think. I am still depressed. I don't think I'd be able to get out of depression unless a miracle happens. But whatever you say helped you get out of your depression I will give a try. I just don't know what it was. Sarah

Rhonda, Gabe & Izzy,

Yes sadly we live in a "non-perfect" world. This is why God is so busy helping the person who wrote his awful note to Gabe.

Gabe must realize with her roll as a "beautiful angel", she must look positive at these type of messages, and pray that the Lord help this person.

Gabe, look above all this....you have a busy job helping to change this world.

Be strong and know that 99% of the people, are so impressed with you. ( Also your parents who never gave up...they spent many sleepless nights worrying about "their Gabrielle".

Gabe you are a Great Angel,

Jim

Gabe you talked at my school hartland middle school at ore creek. your speach was amazing! I get bullyed all the time and the stuff you talked about made me think why they were bullying me in the first place. i thought it was maybe they were jelious of me and they were instable about themselves that they had to make someone feel bad about themselves to my the bully feel good about them. i just think your amazing and im looking forward to your spech next year. Thanks so much. Because of you my school is a better place.

Hi Gabe & Izzy,

I have been following your story since I first saw the piece on Animal Planet. Gabe, I think you are a wonderful human being--strong, caring, and beautiful both inside and out. Thank you for sharing you story with others; I am sure you've been a great help to countless people, young and old, with their own struggles. Keep up the good work. I wish you both all the best.

To all,

A very special story, of a very special lady.

The Lord put this wonderful / beautiful lady, (Gabrielle Ford) on his earth for a special reason. He then gave her a wonderful companion....called Izzy, a black & tan Hound

I called today and spoke with her wonderful parents, Rick & Rhonda Hillman, who also are special angels, for it was through their love and guidance that helped Gabrielle become the spirit for all of us to believe in.

Please take a moment out of your busy to read about something very wonderful.

We are all blessed to Gabe and Izzy, along with Rhonda and Rick, who fought through many tough years.

Bless us all,

Jim
