20011 Guestbook Archives

Dear Gabrielle,

Your story really touched my heart. I have tremendous respect for you, your family, and of course Izzy for dealing with your issues. I was very sad to learn she passed away.
You truly inspired me, and reminded me of the love and companionship we get from our pets. When I was younger, we had a black labrador called Oscar, my buddy through high school. Having read your book, being forced to rearrange my life because of my ataxia, I'm sure it's going to include another black labrador friend.
Wishing you and yours all the best!

Just wanted to say I just ordered your book for my wife and am sure she will enjoy. Thank you for your story and strength. My wife has an undiagnosed form of ataxia and struggles dealing with her self image because of her gait, instability, and speech. It is great to have another warrior against bullying and ataxia fighting for a brighter tomorrow. God Bless and stay strong.

Best wishes,

Gabe ,
Iknow you recieve many comments on here.. but i want this one to be a little different.. i want you to know that i have been through deel depression and heartache myself. At the age of 13 ihave lost so many people in my life that it seems almost constant. The hardest death was my very own father. It took me a while to get over and i somewhat used the same method as you. I felt lost and lonely and like life would never be the same like everyone else had it easy but i pushed past my feara and allowed myself to live my life the way i think he would think i should. I hope you remember me throughout your journey of being an inspirational speaker .on 11/22/11 you viseted my school , Washington Middle School.. i was the young lady that introdu ced you . I was so scared . Public speaking is not my type of thing. But . You talked to me and i felt like you just lifted my spirits and i was no longer scared . You changed the way i think about things and your story will always have a spot in my heart . Love always and wish you luck in your future.. you made a difference in my life and im sure your story has also impacted many other people in my school. And.. im on chapter 8 in your book but im currently reading now.(:

You are such an inspiration. ♥ If I was in school with you I would make sure no body ever bullied you, it's wrong. You're making a change in the world, Gabe. It's awesome how much you can do. <3 You're beautiful, Don't let anyone tell you different. I look up to you so much! In school I work with special need students & I ALWAYS stick up for them if they ever get bullied. It hurts to see somebody getting bullied, I will stand up for them just like you are today . Any day I would trade lives with kids in wheel chairs so they can get up and move around, Do what they love. It makes me feel terrible inside. Today you had me in tears with your speech.. I just can't believe your classmates would treat you like that. I would never ever ever do that to you. ♥ I'm soo proud of you!! Keep up the work, You've changed my life so much. Please answer back to me, I know you are very busy but please.. It would make me the happiest girl in the world to just talk to you & ask you a few questions.

My friend and I are currently in 11th grade at Oakridge High School. Our government class teacher is having us do a project to help causes that are important to us. Our cause is called A.S.A.B. which stands for All Students Against Bullying. We both have our own stories of bullying and harassment, so when we saw you speak on Friday October 21st (my birthday), your story really touched us and I can't speak for her, but I teared up a lot. Funny enough, I was siting two seats down from the girl who used to bully me to the point where I tried committing suicide. I kept looking over at her remembering my 7th-9th grade year of being bullied. Your story meant a lot to us, and we really hope that your story touched a lot of people, if not all of them because we really don't want people to be put through what we went through. We would love it if you could email us and talk with us to help with our group because we need support and we need stories to share. We have an account on facebook if you or anyone would like to look it up: Asab Cause <- you have to friend request it. It would mean so much if you would please take time to help us with this cause, it would mean so much. All in all, I'm glad that you realized that it wasn't the end of your story, and that you've continued on in your book of life. (: Thank you for sharing at our school and taking your time to read what we have to post. ~Callie and Dominique, Oakridge High School

Bullies don't know their total impact - and I do believe your book should be on every school's required reading list - with an essay of lessons learned to pass the course.

One time when I was in 5th grade a kid was calling me a slave on Martin Luther King Day.! I took it seriously but I think you inspired me to not care what others think about me but what I think about myself and be happy for who you are and not let people hate you for who you are.! I think you a strong, brave, couragest. I just can't believe everything you did and you kept your head high through everything. Dear Gabe
Thank you for comming to the Alpena High School to talk about bullying. You really touched my heart. I am a fourth grader at Ella White School. This is my first year in the public school system.
At my old school there was a girl that had came from Georgia and her mom and dad were splitting up so she came here to live with her grandpa while her mom was fighting in the war in Iraq. This girl was bullied a lot by another girl because of the way she looked. I stood up for the girl. I was her only friend. The girl moved back to Georgia. Then I got bullied by the same girl as my friend did. Then I went to Ella White School that was the best thing I ever did. At Ella white thay talk about bullying. All around the school there are signs that say "ELLA WHITE IS A BULLY FREE SCHOOL ZONE!" I am comming back tonight with my mom so she can hear your story too. See you to night Gabe :)

Dear Gabe,
I would like to thank you for coming to our school and sharing your wonderful story with us, auctally it was today, i have sufferd from bullies weather it was my shoes or my hair, it seemed no mater what i did they never stopped. I held it all to myself just fearing that if i told anyone and got them in trouble they would make me feel worse then they already had. The worst was the name calling like Big Feet, Rainbow Hair, Gorrlia Feet, And sometimes even Racist names but you inspired me that once i tell they will be handled in a positive way thank you Gabe,

Just for you I bought a rist band and book I couldn't get the shirt because they didn't have it in my size. So many people bully me because I am over weight and I am some what poor. I also think that if you would have come about a year sooner you would have saved one of our students from killing himself, and he would still be here today. But thank you very much for coming to our school!

May the Lord bless you and keep you close. Thank you for coming to my school. I love you so much. Nobody should have to suffer from bullies. Your story made me cry, and I only cry once in a blue moon. Again, thank you. You have made me smile again and I do believe you are still dancing.

Second I would like to say I loved your presentation and your story about your life…Im sorry about Izzy…there are many things in life that people go through that other people don’t see and I realized that all because of you..
You’re a great inspiration in everybody’s life…If it was not for you and people who go around and speak there stories then the society would not be so good. Yes I did cry because I might not know how you feel about your situation but I know how you felt about the bullying...
Well im not done but Im just going to write you a letter but I wanted to say thank you and you and your speech will always be in peoples hearts or at least you are in mine.:)
Thank you sooo much…..P.S. you are a great role model to this world and everyone in it. :)

Hi my name is Zaria and you spoke at my school on April, riday,29, 011. In your story I learned that bullying is bigger than what I thought. I thought it was just name calling but it has grown to be more. Middle School Central is a good place but we do have problems with a little things. I really don't know why people would bully you because you are a very very pretty woman. When I hugged you on Friday I told myslef I was going to be a better person and help stop bullying and if I even see something like that or what you've gone through I will help stop it because people should know that this situation is not right and this should not be done to people with a disorder or people like me & you are a strong pretty woman with a NICE HEART and I love what you're doing. Thank you for coming to Middle School Central.

You are the best speaker I have heard in my life but I am still young and I'm in seventh grade. I hope you love traveling the world with your mom and Izzy's cousin. I really hope you can come back again. You are the best! You are my new role model.

Today, you changed my life. You touched my heart, and my school, with all of your expierience and Knowledge.

Today, you visited my school, BCS, with Dayna. Me and my two friends came up and told you you were; and are; pretty. Don't let anyone ever change you.

I myself have been bullied, and it feels awful. But, it feels great to tell that person: "I'm done with this. I am NOT dirt, I am a person. And I don't and won't tolerate how you treat me."

Through your story, you opened eyes, and made people rethink what I say and do. It's the most important thing in the world for people to understand this.

As P!nk Said: "Pretty Pretty Please, Don't you ever ever feel, like you're less then, less then perfect. You are perfect, to me."

And as Lady Gaga said: "You're beautiful in your way, cause God makes no mistakes, you're on the right track Baby you were born this way."

Bless you, Bless your heart, and Bless all that you do.

You're faithful follower, Haley.

I have recently completed reading your book and am looking forward to your visit to our community on April 20th. Our daughter was bullied as well in school, she had several orthopaedic surgeries, kids would kick her crutches out from her or pull down on her back pack to throw her off balance & write things on her locker the more we said or did just agrivated the situation. The sad thing is both my husband and I work(ed) for the school district, we had little support from most of the administration and her teachers at the time we were thrilled that she made it out of jr/sr high school. Our daughter like most don't want to tell what is going on because she thought she could handle it or it would just go away if she ignored it. When she did finally speak up it just got worse, she was lucky in the one aspect that she had a safe haven to go to at the high school my husbands office most kids don't feel they have that safety. It makes one tough in life and we fortunately have all used our sense of humor to keep us strong, we like your family are extremely tight and don't give up! I look forward to hearing you speak and seeing both of you. Thank you for your words of encouragement!

His life was made so miserable there that he moved to a private school and later quit high school (he finished later in an alternative program). Back in the 90s when I tried to talk about this with the school, I was told "boys will be boys". I believed then, and still do, that they are also human beings. Your are doing wonderful work!

I think that hearing it from a random person wouldn't make a change, but hearing from someone who has experienced it will make it change and even stop. Bullying is a choice it might not be a good one but its a choice. Everyone is different and thats what makes us unique. I thank you for taking your time to come to Tanque Verde High. Your story is such an inspiration to all human beings. Thank you once again!

I just want to thank you SOO much for coming to my school today and for helping us all to learn the consequences of bullying and that it's okay to be yourself. I can't even begin to tell you how inspiring you are to me. You are probably the nicest person I've ever met, I had the privelege of speaking with you and you were just so humble and sweet and caring. I was bullied when I was younger and I started to believe all the mean things they would say to me. But you really opened my eyes to truly believe that being myself is alright and that if you have the courage to believe in yourself enough, what they say doesn't matter. You have touched so many lives with your inspiring story of you and Izzy and you are truly an angel on earth. Thank you for everything, and I'm so sorry to hear about Izzy.
You are my hero :) God bless.

Hey Gabe this is Matthew,
You just recently came to my school (Ore Creek Middle School) and your story was so inspirational! The reason I am writing to you is because I am bullied often and the thing that got me mad was that when we went back to class write after your assembly I walked into class and a group of people called me names and pointed and laughed at me! I don't know what to do because this has been happening more and more and it has been happening for a long time! I just feel like an outsider even though I have a lot of friends that love and are about me but what should I do I really need someone to just give me addvice!
Thanks Matthew

Thanks so much for coming to Harltand Ore Creek you really inspired me to stand up for kids getting bullied. So many kids around me were almost crying listening to your story im pretty sure that those kids have either got bullied or have been bullied and you gave them comfort and inspiration. I know that if I ever come across anyone being bullied I will stop it and stick up for them :) Thx so much and your dog (Izzys cousin) is soo cute!

Dear Gabe,
Today you came to my school (RJ) and you touch me personaly with your true life story. Im very glade that i got to speak with you, and shake your hand. You might not remember me but,i asked the qustion about what was your reaction when your mother told you that you could never dance again. You might remember but, everyone one in their life are bullyed and bullyed back, and honstly i bully sometimes because like they say it helps the bullys feel better about them selfs. My main reason why i used to bully was because it did make me feel better and also becasue i got bullyed because of my weight. But you were right in every reasons. When i bullyed someone i could see the looks in there eyes and when i went back to class i felt bad about doing what i did to people. i didint bully alot of people like maybe 2 or 3 girls. And i wrote letters to thoses 2-3 girls saying how sorry i was and maybe we can become friends. Because like my mother says you dont want to reget anything in your life time because you have 1 life and only one life. So it did help me because i made a few more friends and it helped me understand that being bullyed does emotional effect someone and make them feel bad about them selfs and thats not right.
Well thank you for coming to our school and reading this. please write back, and a good time while your in town:)
Love, Chelsea <3

Hi Gabe! My sister is a teacher at Red jacket in shortsville Ny and she sent me the video of you and izzy on animal planet. After watching it i knew i had to come and hear you speak. I myself was bullied alot throughout middle and high school. There was one point where a girl and her friends were threatening to beat me up. I was so scared to go to school. I ended up having to file a complaint with the school and the girl was kicked out. High school wasn't much better. In 10th grade i was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I couldn't go to school and sit in classes. I had so many anxiety attacks that i was out of school for over a month and when i did start back it was one class at a time. The first day class has barely begun when i had to leave the room. As a result i was talked about all the time behind my back and picked on! It was hell! My lab Molly was my best friend. She was always someone I could count on. To be happy to see me when i got home and to never leave my side when i was scared or upset. In my junior year she was hit by a car and killed instantaly. My world felt like it was shattered. I know the pain of bullying and i know the love of a dog and how that can help heal. I very much enjoyed hearing you speak and meeting you and your new friend. Thank you for sharing your story!

Dear Gabe,
I am really sorry about Izzy. I have had many special pets but I have never had a companion that was with me 24-7. I have been bullied before because I have diabetes. I have also bullied a few times before and I will never do it again. The only reason I ever did it was because I never told anyone that I was being bullied and I got so frusterated about the bulling. Thank you Gabe, for comeing to Red Jacket Elementary.
Laurel P.S. I hope you will have enough time to e-mail me back and thank you again.

Best of luck to you to getting your message out to as many people that want to change the world. May God continue to bless you and keep you in his care.

Dear Gabe,
Thank you for coming to Handy Middle School I was inspired to stand up against kids who are getting bullied. I tried really hard not to cry but I cried because your story was just so heart touching. I couldn't believe that something so bad could happen to you at such a young age. I cant believe how Izzy was so much alike to you. I'm so sorry that she passed away but she is in a better play probably chasing all the balls she can chase and she can get,and is probably she is walking a whole lot than she did on Earth. Thanks again for coming to our school and I read your book from cover to cover it was just as heart touching as your speech. Thanks again.

You have definitely changed mine. I am so thankful that you came to our school. I will absolutely try and help stop bullying. It takes many people to change themselves to change others. I think you are the start of stopping bullying. So Thank you soooo much. There is so much bullying now and it is sad. Many people got teary eyed from your speech. I know i was one of them.
